Urine for a treat.

Don't worry. I know it's a bad pun.

I've read countless times on the internet and in "What to Expect When You're Expecting" that urinary frequency is a common symptom of pregnancy. Supposedly it's pretty bad in the first trimester because of increased blood volume and a surge in horomones. And then it's bad again in the third trimester because you have a seven pound baby pressing on your bladder (and every other organ in your abdomen). Well, no matter how much you read about it, nothing prepares you for the dozens of trips to the bathroom you will make each day.

Currently I wake up three to four times every night to use the bathroom. I have slept through the night once since finding out I was pregnant. Once! I can go to the bathroom immediately before bed, fall asleep, and be awake one hour later to do it all over again. And after the second or third time I'm awake for good (thank goodness for Nick at Nite!) Out of curiousity, I kept a tally to see how many times I would go in one shift at work. Five or six? Not even a chance. I went 11 times in my 12 hour shift. Maybe this is God's way of preparing me to change diapers just as often.

Sean and I travel to Pensacola on Thursday. Anyone want to take a guess at how many times we'll stop for potty breaks? Hint: Pre-pregnancy we usually stopped once.
